List of Default App Actions for iOS Shortcuts

As of 8/30/2025, these are all the Default App Actions included in the iOS version of Apple’s Shortcuts.

I did my best to adjust descriptions for better uniformity, so most of these will read differently in Shortcuts itself.

App Store:

• Find App Store Apps: Searches the App Store, returning the apps matching the search terms.
• Get Details of App Store App: Returns a specific piece of information from the input App Store apps.
• Open Page: Opens the specified App Store page.

Calendar:

• Add New Calendar: Creates a new calendar.
• Add New Event: Creates a new event in the selected calendar.
• Edit Calendar Event: Sets a specific field of the input calendar event.
• Filter Event Attendees: Returns the event attendees that match the given criteria, from an input list of event attendees.
• Find Calendar Events: Searches for calendar events that match the given criteria.
• Get Details of Calendar Events: Returns a specific piece of information from the input calendar events.
• Get Details of Event Attendees: Returns a specific piece of information from the input event attendees.
• Get Upcoming Events: Returns upcoming calendar events.
• Open in Calendar: Shows the input date or calendar event in the Calendar app.
• Remove Events: Removes all input events.
• Focus:
  • Set Calendar Focus Filter: Sets the behavior of the Calendar app for the specified Focus.
• Settings:
  • Change Calendar Settings: Sets the state of the selected setting.
  • Get Calendar Settings: Returns the current state of the selected setting.

Camera:

• Open Camera: Opens the camera in the specified mode.
• Take Photo: Uses the camera to take photos.
• Take Video: Uses the camera to take a video clip.

Contacts:

• Add New Contact: Creates a new contact.
• Contacts: Returns the specified contacts.
• Edit Contact: Sets a specific field of the input contact.
• Find Contacts: Returns contacts that match the given criteria.
• Get Contacts from Input: Returns contacts found in the input.
• Get Details of Contacts: Returns a specific piece of information from the input contacts.
• Get Phone Numbers from Input: Returns phone numbers found in the input.
• Phone Number: Returns the input phone numbers.
• Select Contact: Prompts to pick a contact.
• Select Phone Number: Prompts to pick a phone number from your contacts.

FaceTime:

• FaceTime: Calls the input contact using FaceTime.

Files:

• Create Folder: Creates a new folder.
• Delete Files: Deletes the input files.
• File: Returns the specified files or folders.
• Get Contents of Folder: Returns the files in the input folder.
• Get File from Folder: Returns a file or folder by a relative path, starting from a specified folder.
• Move File: Moves the input file to a new location.
• Rename File: Renames the input file.
• Save File: Saves input files to a specified folder.
• Scan Document: Scan a document using the Files app.
• Search in Files: Search for a file or folder
• Select File: Prompts to select files or folders.

Freeform:

• Create Board: Creates a new board.
• Delete Boards: Deletes one or more boards.
• Open Board: Opens an existing board.
• Rename Board: Renames a board.
• Settings:
  • Change Freeform Settings: Changes the state of the specified setting.
  • Get Freeform Settings: Returns the current state of the specified setting.

Health:

• Find Health Samples: Searches for the health samples that match the given criteria.
• Get Details of Health Sample: Returns a specific piece of information from the input health samples.
• Log Health Sample: Adds a data point into Health.
• Log Workout: Adds a workout into Health.
• Open Data: Opens Health, displaying the data for a specified data type.
• Open Sleep Schedule: Opens Health to your sleep schedule.
• Open View: Opens Health to the specified view.
• Search in Health: Opens Health and searches for the input text.

Home:

• Control Home: Set the state of your home.
• Get state: Returns the state of a Home accessory.
• Intercom: Announces an input message using Intercom.
• Toggle Accessory or Scene: Toggles the state of a specified accessory or scene.

Journal:

• Create Audio Entry: Creates a new audio journal entry.
• Create Entry: Creates a new journal entry.
• Search Entries: Searches journal entries.

Mail:

• Email Address: Returns the specified email addresses.
• Get Email Addresses from Input: Returns any email addresses found in the input.
• Open Mailbox: Open specified mailbox.
• Search in Mail
• Select Email Address: Prompts to pick an email address from your contacts.
• Send Email: Presents an email composer.
  • Pass text into the action to set the email body. Other types of input are added as attachments.
• Focus:
  • Set Mail Focus Filter: Sets the behavior of the Mail app for the specified Focus.

Maps:

• Find Places: Finds nearby places using Maps, returning the results.
• Get Addresses from Input: Returns any street addresses found in the input.
• Get Details of Parked Car: Returns a specific piece of information from the input parked cars.
• Get Distance: Calculates the distance to the input location.
• Get Halfway Point: Returns the halfway point between two locations.
• Get Maps URL: Returns a URL to search for the input location, place, or text.
• Get Parked Car Location: Return the details of your Parked Car, as stored in the Maps app.
• Get Travel Time: Returns the amount of time to travel to the input location.
• Open Directions: Opens directions to the input location in the specified app.
• Open in Maps: Opens specified app, and search for the input location, place, or text.
• Request Ride: Requests a ride from the specified pickup location to a specified drop off location.
• Set Parked Car: Saves details of your Parked Car in the Maps app.
• Street Address: Returns the specified address.

Messages:

• Send Message: Sends a message.
  • Input images, videos, or other files are included as attachments.
• Open Conversation: Opens the specified conversation.
• Focus:
  • Set Messages Focus Filter: Sets the behavior of the Messages app for the specified Focus.

Music:

• Add to Playing Next: Adds the input music to your queue.
• Add to Playlist: Adds the input items to the specified playlist.
• Clear Playing Next: Clears all the music in your queue.
• Create Playlist: Creates a new playlist in Music, adding any input items.
• Find Music: Searches for music in your library that matches the given criteria.
• Get Current Song: Returns what is currently playing in Music.
• Get Details of Music: Returns a specific piece of information from the input music.
• Get Playlist: Returns every song in the specified playlist.
• Play Music: Plays music using Music.
• Select Music: Prompts to select music from your local music library.
• Focus:

News:

• Get Podcasts from Library: Returns all shows in your Podcast library.
• Play Podcast: Plays a podcast using the Podcasts app.
  • If no podcast is selected, resumes playback.

Reminders:

• Open Notifications Configuration: Opens panel configure severe weather and next-hour precipitation notifications.
• Show Weather: Displays and returns the weather at the specified location.
• Settings:
  • Change Weather Settings: Sets the state of the selected setting.
  • Get Weather Settings: Returns the state of the selected setting.

Conclusion

You can view all of this yourself directly in shortcuts, by tapping on the information icon on the right end of each action in the gallery, or by tapping the icon on the left end of each action, and selecting Show Info from the menu that pops up.
